Robinson: 'Blues didn't have the funds to sign me'

As reported last week the 20-year-old striker moved to the Terriers for a fee believed to be in the region of £275,000, pipping Swindon Town at the post.

Theo Robinson

Theo; all 275k of him

Certainly Theo felt he was on his way back to Essex telling the Echo: "When my loan spell ended I really did think that I was going to be coming back to Southend. I had enjoyed my time there on loan and had got on well with the lads and management there but Watford put quite a big price tag on my head and Southend didn't have enough funds to sign me."

Uncle Ron would argue that we do but Tilly felt he was only worth 50k and £100,000 was high enough, probably the truth lies somewhere in the middle.

Certainly strikers shouldn't be a problem at the club. However, central defence is, which is why Tranmere centre half Ben Chorley going to Orient after, Ron tells us, terms were agreed with his agent, is annoying, but seeing player-of-the-year Peter Clarke in the away side's kit will be very odd indeed.

Robinson continued on the two making their debut at the Hall: "I've already spoken to him it and it's quite funny how things have worked out. We will both be going back to Southend for our first games too which will also be a bit strange but I'm excited about joining Huddersfield. This is a club which should be in the Championship and that's where I want to be too. Their ambitions match mine and they've made some good signings so I'm certainly looking forward to the new season starting."

Good luck lads; but on that particular Saturday, we'll take 2-0 to the Blues!
