Rob Newman - We didn't play that badly today

“ That was very disappointing, I have had a good week especially after beating Scunthorpe last week, but it has come to an end today “ said Rob Newman as he opened his post match interview.”

“ We didn’t play that badly today, what it did show today, was that we don’t have any strikers. Barrington Belgrave injured his foot in training during the week and failed a fitness test before the game today. Stuart Thurgood has come in and chased his little legs off and he has done well, but you have got me upfront today and then Phil Whelan upfront, it just doesn’t help the cause. Against Scunthorpe we did okay, but today we needed a recognised striker to get into situations that we couldn’t.”

Newman continued “ The injuries we have got at the club are all to our strikers, it seems somebody has put a curse on us. What I have learnt today is that next season when we come to places like Kidderminster, we don’t lose two-nil, we come away with a nil-nil draw. I don’t want us to come away losing two-nil after giving two goals away, they were bad goals, Kidderminster did not create them, we have given them away, I am disappointed in that way.”

Thirty eight year old Rob Newman who played for nearly an hour talked about

Kevin Maher - signed a two year contract on Friday
his players “ McSweeney and Cort have done well again, Anthony Clark has come on, 17 year old first year YT he has done well, Kevin Maher who signed his two year contract on Friday has played his usual good game, I thought Steven Clark was poor today, he knows that, he is sitting in the dressing room with his head between his legs, he was poor today as he was good last week, that has got to tell him that he needs more consistency, we will be working on that. Leon Cort has signed his one year contract that is all done and dusted, as I say, up and till three o’clock today it had been a good week for me.”

Newman finished with the following comments “ I am very disappointed we have lost, between now and the end of the season I will start giving the fringe players a chance and I hope the supporters will be patient, I need to blood new players to see what they are made of, we are in for training on Sunday Morning to prepare for Monday’s game against Exeter City, I don’t think we have picked up any more injuries, there wasn’t much ice flying around in there, but their will be new players in the squad or team on Monday and that will give them a chance.”
