"That's one of the best performances from my side since I've been manager and I'm confident we have the skill to go all the way to the top," said Newman after the two-nil victory.

The Thirty-eight year old who looks like he might have hung up his boots continued "The attitude was just right and you couldn't fault the commitment, it wouldn't have been an injustice had we won by a lot more goals."

"We got a good goal in the first half and when they put us under pressure we handled it. But we had a few chances and if we’d have won the game three or four nil it wouldn’t have been an injustice. Our front two terrorised their defence".

Newman is now focused on another three points on Saturday at Roots Hall "The attitude of the players was superb and I expect no different on Saturday against Torquay United and if we can do that then we will be one game closer to the chasing pack."
