Rob Newman’s opening comment after the dull goalless draw summed the match up “ It was a mediocre game to be fair, the sending off spoiled the game, like I say, but we weren’t able to capitalise on the extra man, but last week we had an extra man advantage against Shrewsbury but Shrewsbury absolutely dominated the game but today we gave possession away too easily, we were too sloppy today, whether that was a case of end of the season Blues or whatever I don’t know. I am delighted we have kept a clean sheet in the last game of the season, it gives us something positive to think about over the summer, that’s what we have got to do, and like I say, we have just got to build on this and next season come to this place and like I say a nil nil result is not a bad result, if we were in the shake up for the play-offs or automatics, a nil-nil result away from home is not a bad result, that is what I am looking for next season, like I say, I want it to be hard to get beat, like I say, if we can come away from our games with a clean sheet we are going to win more than we lose.”

Thirty Eight year old Newman continued “ We played well against the eleven men first twenty minutes, passing the ball around, a bit more composure we could of taken the great chances, like I say, we could have been one or two up, but it wasn’t to be, but I am disappointed as we became sloppy and kept giving the ball away with sloppy passes, we just kept giving the ball away, that has to be rectified, next season, we can’t do that, you can’t be successful if you can’t pass the ball from A to B.”

Newman was then asked if he had enjoyed his first season as a Manager “ It’s been an experience, I have thoroughly enjoyed it, like I say it’s been an experience, I can take that experience on to next season and like I say we can go from strength to strength, there is a lot of work to be done and the players have got to know that as well, but like I say technically I don’t think there are too many teams better than us in this division, it is just when it comes to work ethics, I will have to make sure if we are playing at home or Carlise away that my players appetite for the game is going to be one hundred percent.”

Rob Newman was then asked for his aim for next season “ Automatic promotion, absolutely, we start the season as do twenty three others, we are no different, but I am confident that we can do well next season and hopefully we can progress.”
