“ We gave away two goals you would expect to see on a Sunday morning park game, that’s probably disrespectful to Sunday park Players” said thirty eight year old Newman after the 2-1 defeat at Brisbane Road.

“ I’m not happy, it was so easy the way we gave the goals away, I told them so at half-time, we were better second half, if we had started the game like that we would not have lost the game. Questions have to be asked, why do we have to be two-nil down before we start playing like that, we always need a kick up the backside. My challenge for the rest of the season and next season is to get the players playing from the start”.

Rob Newman was then asked about the players attitude, Newman replied “ I don’t think its attitude, I don’t think its attitude, I don’t know what the reason is, its just awareness, I do not have a problem with the physical side and the commitment, we were the stronger side at the end tonight, anyway its thought and speed of mind that’s the problem, a lot of the players don’t know what to do when the ball goes dead, they need to be sharp in mind as well as sharp in feet”

Newman finished off “ Yes I suppose you always think that you might get a point, but the way we conceded the goals we didn’t deserve anything. I was pleased with the second half performance but how many times do we have to fall behind before we start playing”.
