Quinn in happier times with the Conference Play-Off trophy
In a carefully-worded statement to the official Shrewsbury Town website, www.shrewsburytown.co.uk, the directors of the club and now former manager Quinn announced that the man who led the Shrews to the Nationwide Conference Play-Off final victory over Aldershot Town on penalty kicks had left the club.

Quinn is quoted as saying, "It was a difficult decision for me to make particularly after the success of last season but I had to put the interests of the club and its supporters first and felt that now was the right time to bring a fresh approach into the club". Quinn succeeded Kevin Ratcliffe as boss of the Salop after Town's relegation to the Conference a season-and-a-half ago.

Chairman Roland Wycherley added, "It is with tremendous regret that we are parting company with Jimmy but unfortunately he was adamant that the time was right for a change". Shrewsbury have failed to win their last eight fixtures, and lie bottom of the League Two table with eleven points from fourteen games.

Wycherley continued, "Whilst the board were obviously concerned about the current league position we will forever be indebted to Jimmy for gaining us promotion back into the League last season, and wish him every success in the future".

The statement concludes by informing fans that Chic Bates is the man charged with team selection for the clash against the Shrimpers, who will now be wary of so-called 'new manager syndrome'. No further comments are likely to be forthcoming revealing the finer details of the situation.
