Antonio German; will stay at Southend until the new year
Antonio's original one-month deal ended with two called off fixtures after making just six appearances for the Shrimpers since he joined on November 5th.
He scored one goal on his debut in the FA Cup draw against Macclesfield Town from the penalty spot.
Blues boss Paul Sturrock told www.southendunited.co.uk: "With postponements and the busy Christmas period coming up we felt it would be wise to hang on to Antonio. He's shown glimpses of what he is capable of during matches but I believe there is more to come and which he will hopefully show over the next four weeks."
The Championship promotion chasers from West London have included a 24-hour recall clause in the deal in case QPR need the talents of the teenager who has shown enough in the few games he's fitted in before the snow to justify the extention.
Rangers boss Neil Warmock said at the time of the signing: "There were a number of clubs interested in Antonio. A couple from the Championship and one or two from League One too. But I want him to get some serious game-time under his belt and he'll get that at Southend. He will play five or six games for them and that will stand him in really good stead."
Well Neil, he should now play more, with Antonio's last game for United possibily being Cheltenham at home on Bank Holiday Monday, January 3rd.
The other Shrimper loanee striker, Oxford United's Jack Midson, has already put pen to paper on a deal that keeps him at Roots Hall until the same time as Antonio, with arguably not the same optomism!
