However, Clarkey, whose contract will soon expire, will not stray from his 'party line' about his future at the club.
Speaking to the Echo Clarke said: "Now the games are out of the way I'm sure there will be some dialogue between the club and myself. I've never asked to leave but I don't know what the chairman has in mind so we will have to see what comes to pass. It was lovely to win player of the season but it's down to the hard work of the whole team. I've just done what I'm there to do really but it's nice to know people recognise what you do and the reception from the fans was brilliant too."
Southend supporters chanted for Clarke to sign a new contract throughout the game, while some fans in the West Stand also waved a banner urging him to stay.
Clarkey would have also seen how popular he is within the squad by being voted the Players Player of the Season as well.
Meanwhile the Echo backed goal of the season went to Christophe's incredible effort at the Posh in which he celebrated by scoring another stunner in the 2-0 win against relegated Cheltenham.
Young Jeff told the local paper: "It was great to win the award. And to score again right at the end was the perfect way to finish the season."
In the runners-up positions Franck Moussa's individual effort at home to Hartlepool United came second, with Peter Clarke's memorable header at Chelsea in the FA Cup finished third.
