Pair leave as Blues prepare for league run in

Farnborough Town has recalled Holloway, after the first team goalkeeper has picked up an injury. Holloway has been selected between the sticks as they’re in league action tonight.

Southend now only have two fully fit goalkeepers, Daryl Flahavan and the young but very tall Nick Morgan with Bart Griemink only just getting back into training after he has had trouble with his knees. Morgan will be pleased to be pushed up to the bench after his lack of first team opportunities. He will be on the bench on Friday as local rivals Leyton Orient come to town in the League Two fixture. Darryl Flahavan will take up the position between the sticks after shaking off the original competition from Holloway back in January.

Holloway after collecting his LDV final runners up medal on Sunday, will be sad to leave the Blues as he was seemingly enjoying his time at the club, and could possibly return at the end of the season. However the former Arsenal keeper had been limited to football in the reserves and he will now get the opportunity to impress on a first team stage.

The other player to leave the Blues is Brummie Michael Husbands. The speedy front man was told earlier this season that he could look for another club, but now he and the club have mutually terminated his contract with the club. Husbands has had injury after injury in the last two years since the Blues fought of competition form Gillingham to secure his services. He has been limited to the odd reserve game this season, and he has decided he has to leave to find first team football.

Michael Husbands
Another of the white boots clan - but this time for a reserve game!
Husbands, who was reported to have had a row with the management staff has often trained with the youth team and played in a match this year against an England amputee team. The former Aston Villa trainee looked good when he first joined Southend, linking up well with Drewe Broughton however a combination of injuries and lack of favour has led to Husbands downfall. Michael we now be looking for another club.

We at TheLittleGazette wish the two players all the best in the future.
