He has joined until January 1st, with a view to permanently signing the central midfielder on loan.

Paul Brush spoke to the official site about the capture of McCormack

“We've wanted to bring Alan in for a few weeks now” said assistant Paul Brush

He went onto say “Obviously were pleased that we have managed to sign him as he will offer us something different in midfield. Alan's not afraid to put his foot in when needed and you need a bit of that in the Championship we feel”

The Irish international spent time with the Blues during their promotion from league 2. And Brush revealed that McCormack was disappointed to be recalled by Preston.

“I know he was disappointed to get recalled back then” revealed Brush. In addition he said that Alan had phoned him on the morning of the play-off final and had gave his best wishes to all the lads.

Brush said they were determined to bring him back to Roots Hall after they heard he had handed in a transfer request on Wednesday.

McCormack is likely to be on the bench tomorrow, and he has received his old shirt number, number 26.

But as one comes in Jay Smith has left the club to join Notts County on loan for a month.

His been sent out to get games under his belt. But questions will be asked if he has a future at the club.
