O'Keefe: 'I'm hoping for more chances in the first team'

We might be moaning about the size of our squad come August, but for some, and a reason to be cheerful, there will be players out there proud to wear the blue, or claret, of Southend.

The Shrimpers teenage midfielder Stuart O'Keefe started the last two matches of Southend's releagtion season, and with the rumours of players lining up to leave Roots Hall should be in with a decent chance of making it three in a row!

In the meantime, while the rest of us lie in front of the TV watching England lose on penalties in the World Cup quarter-final, young Stuart will be pumping iron to build up those muscles to face Boston on a cold winters evening!

Stuart told www.echo-news.co.uk: "It's a massive season for me coming up because I only have a year left on my contract so I'm hoping for more chances in the first team. I know it's my strength that I need to work on the most for that to happen, but I'm sure that will come. I'm working on it through the summer with Laurence Bloom our conditioning coach and also the physiotherapists here."

More chances Stuart mate, I think your a banker!
