Official: Taxman Paid, No Administration

You've got to give it to him, old Ron's nothing but dramatic.

At that most holy of times for a football supporter, 3pm on a Saturday, and on FA Cup First Round day no less, the cheque cleared and the club are no longer under the threat of administration.

Of course, this could be just a very large sticking plaster, and God knows what Mr. Martin has promised to get us out of this, but for now further analysis can wait, it's time to raise a glass or two in the pub.

Suddenly, a cup defeat in Kent doesn't seem too bad and with an away match at Yeovil in a week's time, with maybe a new loanee or two, we can look at the league table and think, 'blimey, we're only four points off a play-off place'.

A week in football can be a bloody long time.

The Club Statement

The Club's Chairman, Ron Martin, has today (3pm) confirmed that one of his Group Companies has now paid, in full, the tax due to HMRC in the sum of 2.1m therby removing the threat of administartion.

The funds were being held by the Revenu's solicitors and at lunchtime yoday they were released.

A further, more detailed, statement will be made next week.
