No loan moves by Tilly but club wants Clarke to stay

After 17.00 Thursday afternoon that's it, the players at the club will see the season out but Blues boss Steve Tilson is at ease with the situation.

Speaking to www.southendunited.co.uk Tilly said: "At the moment I don't see anything happening to be honest. We've made a few calls and there isn't much out there right now. The lads have been fantastic for me lately though so it dosen't concern me too much anyway."

Tilly did admit to wanting to see sacked Walsall midfielder Ishmel Demontangnac again but will probably wait until next season when the players registartion is no longer held by his former club.

Meanwhile, Blues chairmen Ron Martin does not accept that centre half Peter Clarke will leave when his contract expires at the end of the season, when he could go on a free transfer, as he's a player "we would very much like to stay."

Understanding players like to keep all their options open Uncle Ron will be speaking to Clarkey soon after the final whistle blows in May.

Also speaking to the official site Ron said: "He hasn't said he wants to leave and he's always been committed to Southend United during his three years here which is admirable and I'm sure that will continue. He's a good player and a good guy too."

Clarke joined Blues from Blackpool for £300,000 in August 2006 and has now made 143 appearances.

With much improved performances next to Dervitte in defence another club, more than likely Championship, will be showing interest with only a wages deal to come up with.

If we miss out on promtion for another season it would have to be one hell of an offer to make him stay and in that respect Uncle Ron does not have a lot of history.
