Having impressed in the Reserve side at Vale Park, Valients boss Brian Horten offered Danny Maye a professional contract and the Leicester born youngster (14th July 1982) broke into Vale's first team towards the end of last season, making three substitute appearances for the Division Two side.

Maye, who stands a 5 foot 9 inches and weighs in at just under 11 stone, began his career as a youngster with Leicester City before making the switch to Burslem when he was just 16 to complete a scholorship. Maye is most at home when employed as a left winger.
