M'Voto remains injured as Dervite seen in the stands

M'Voto: Just back from Wearside to probably return again very soon

Reports started filtering through Saturday morning that the French centre half on loan from Sunderland, Jean-Yves M'Voto, had broken down in training, and those fears were confirmed when M'Voto was not in the starting line-up against the Gasmen of Bristol.

He had in fact gone for an MRI scan which showed up bruising in a joint and he could be out for a further six weeks on top of the four he's already missed since he limped off at Brighton at half-time with a hip injury on September 18th.

So talking of French centre-halves, there was a ripple of excitement in the East Stand when Tottenham and saviour of last season, 6ft 4inc Dorian Dervite was seen sitting in the stand.

Now S24 is not a sight to speculate, and sadly we can't start here, as Blues boss Steve Tilson soon dampened any expectations.

Tilly told www.southendunited.co.uk: "Dorian asked if he could come to the game, so I gave him the best seat in the house in the director's box. I would love to have him back here, but there are Championship clubs after him and because he won't sign a new contract at Tottenham, they won't let him out on loan to anyone, so there's nothing more in it than that."

Oh well, maybe he misses his French speaking mates on the south coast enough to twist Harry's arm to let him play a few games, better than just sitting in the stand!
