Morris: 'Now I'm a Shrimper I want to stake my claim and try and be No.1'
Shrimpers new shot stopper Glenn Morris is finding his feet, and findong out the names of his new team mates, since his move to south east Esssex after joining from Orient on Tuesday.
Morris signed a one-year pre-contract agreement with the Shrimpers after impressing Blues boss Paul Sturrock following a two-week trial.
The 26-year-old was at Orient for nine years and despite stepping down a division he is looking forward to the new experience at Roots Hall.
Glenn told www.southendunited.co.uk: "This is a good challenge after being at Orient for so long it is nice to come here and try something different. I enjoyed my time at Orient but everything comes to an end and you have to move on to give new things a go. I spent a lot of time over the years on the bench at Orient but I still managed to play over 120 games. But now I am at Southend I want to stake my claim and try and be number one."
With shot stopper Rhys Evans joining Thursday we wish him well, but he did mention how the team are starting to gel.
Glen continued: "These are exciting times and altough we all don't really know each other everybody is already starting to bond. Those who are here from last season are the ones who are outnumbered really. But I know a few people, Craig Easton was with me at Orient, and I'm looking forward to working with everyone. In this league if we put our mind to it then promotion is definitely a possibility."
