Freddy Eastwood
Freddy set to return to his old club
It will be the second season running that Southend will face both sides after they drew with Grays and lost to Millwall in the respective matches just one year ago.

Southend will again visit The Recreation Ground to play the winners of the Nationwide Conference South and the FA Trophy. It will of course be a homecoming for Freddy Eastwood who played at Grays before joining the Blues. It is thought that the friendly is an arrangement as part of the Eastwood deal. Eastwood will be visiting his old team mates on the Saturday 30th July and play will begin at 3pm. However this date clashes with TLG’s original thoughts that the Shrimpers would be travelling to the New Lodge to face Chelmsford City at the same time (I am all for a squad game but I don’t think we can play two games on one day!). It is expected that the game against the Clarets will be rescheduled for a later date.

The first announced friendly, is a home match at home to Championship outfit Millwall. The Lions, who are currently manager-less will look towards this game as a good opportunity to impress whoever comes into the club on a permanent basis after the sacking of Denis Wise. The game will be played on the Tuesday 19th July with the action starting at 7:45pm.

Another date for the diary is Sunday 24th July when the yearly ‘Meet the Blues Day’ will take place with all the fun and frolics starting at 11am.
