Marney Joins United on Loan

Marney, an attack-minded player who can also operate on the right flank was a product of the youth system at Albion having walked out of Crystal Palace's youth setup.

Injured for the majority of last season, Marney featured in Blues 0-0 Combination draw with Brighton back in August having four days earlier made his long awaited first team debut as a substitute in the Division One clash at Burnley.

Marney has made six starts this season, and abother seven outings from the bench, but has yet to find himself on the scoresheet as the Seagulls have struggled for goal in the First Division.

The 21-year old, Sidcup born player joing United initially for a month and should go straight into the squad for Saturday's Division Three encounter at Torquay United.

Another player who could feature at Torquay is former United full-back Dean Austin. The right-sided defender, who was an integral part of United's rise from the Fourth to First Division in the early nineties before joining Tottenham Hotspur, has become a free agent following his release from Crystal Palace and is today (Thursday) having talks with Rob Newman over a return to Roots Hall.
