McCormack: 'We keep making the same mistakes'

Macca grabbed the header at Roots Hall at the weekend that at least led to a point for the struggling Shrimpers, who have lost six of the last nine matches.

As ever, the tough tackling Irishman, who is starting to show his best form, gave an honest assessment of the teams current situation.

Macca told www.southendunited.co.uk: "We keep going over the same things and and we just look so vulnerable when teams are attacking us. We have to learn from what's going wrong, but I think the time has come to be honest and we're very poor defensively at the moment."

He knows that the whole side has to take responsibilty for defending and accepts it was two points lost against the Chairboys at Roots Hall.

Macca continued: "We're just so open and lack the desire to win the ball back once we've lost it. The midfield and strikers have to do more to help the defence as well but it's looking bad on them at the moment but it's because of our shape. We need to be more professional because it's costing us and it certainly cost us again against Wycombe."

And it doesn't get tougher than Millwall at the New Den who the Shrimpers face next Tuesday evening.
