Macca: 'I think I've calmed down a lot'

Shrimpers midfielder Alan McCormack appreciates he's not been in the best of form this season as he spoke to the Evening Echo.

Macca siad: "I haven't played as well as I can and I think lots of people would say that. My passing hasn't been like what it should and, although I'm not playing badly, I know I'm capable of better."

More surprisingly though he felt he might have become a mere poddle to his former rotweiller playing style!

The Dublin born player continued: "I think I've calmed down a lot. I don't make the stupid challenges I used to when I was a bit younger and I'm not as full blown as I was either but maybe that has taken something away from my game."

Of course, Macca had to turn to recent events off the pitch and how the threat of administartion has affected the squad who in League One are not on big wage packets, well outside Leeds and a few other clubs.

He continued: "We have mortgages and bills to pay just like everyone else and a few of us have missed a few payments which is never good with the banks. We've been paid now for last month which is great but we're still owed bonuses from the start of the season and hopefully that can be sorted out as well."

However, the former Preston man finished on a positive note when talking about how the players decided to handle a nightmare situation.

Macca concluded: "We've had regular meetings about our situation and it was decided that we just had to go out and give our all no matter what was happening. We owe that to our supporters too. They have been magnificent again and in our last game against Gillingham the noise they made was incredible and it really did make a difference to us."
