Luke Prosser: 'I'm very happy to have come back to Southend'

At times not the favourite of many of the Blues faithful, his nightmare against former club Port Vale earlier this season will live long in the memory, and when centre-back Luke Prosser signed a loan deal with Blue Square Premier side Rushden & Diamonds last month it seemed to hint at the beginning of the end of his time as a Shrimper.

However, an injury scare for the club before the long trek to Torquay last Saturday brought the defender back into the fold and even though he sat the game out on the bench he's hoping he'll get the chance to prove his worth.

Prosser told www.echo-news.co.uk: "I enjoyed my loan spell with Rushden and it was good for me to get some games, but I'm very happy to have come back to Southend because it's where I want to be. I want to try and win another deal here now because mine runs out at the end of the season and hopefully I will get another chance soon. Ideally I don't really want to be just sitting on the bench, but the team has been doing well so I'm prepared to wait patiently for my chance."

Luke played six times for the Irthlingborough club scoring one goal, but league footy is where he wants to be.

Prosser concluded: "I got six games there that I wouldn't have got if I stayed here. It helped me a great deal and it did me a lot of good, but I'm pleased to be back."
