Luke Prosser on being a Diamond geezer: 'Sitting on the bench wasn't really doing me any favours'

Prosser: 'I jumped at the chance to play some games'

Let's face it, centre-back Luke Prosser, who joined the Shrimpers at the start of the season after being released by League Two rivals Port Vale, wasn't been one of Blues boss Paul Sturrock's greatest signings.

However, after turning out 13 times for Southend, he's enjoying life in the non-league on a three-minth loan with Rushden & Diamonds of the Blue square Conference and, who knows, the deal could be made more permanent.

Luke told www.thediamondsfc.com: "When you look around, what I think of other teams, we're just as good than other teams. I think it's just a case of when we start to gel better and turn these losses into wins I think we're flying straight back up the table."

And why he left the Shrimpers?

Luke continued: "As soon as I got the call from the gaffer, (ex-Blue Justin Edinburgh), I jumped at the chance to play some games. I was sitting on the bench and I've had ten or so starts for Southend but just sitting on the bench and coming on here and then wasn't really doing me any favours."
