Sturrock: 'Competition financially important for the football club'

Blues boss Paul Sturrock may make changes from the weekend's 3-2 win at Dagenham & Redbridge for tonights FA Cup first round replay with Preston North End for the dubious pleasure of facing Oldham Athleic at home in the next stage.

Sturrock told www.echo-news.co.uk: “Fitness wise we’re not going to be taking a chance on anyone and we have two or three players struggling with injuries. They’re getting through games but then can train for a few days so I think they will benefit from having a week off before the Bristol Rovers game. That’s not to say we don’t want to win or aren’t taking the competition seriously though because that’s not in my make up and it’s also financially important for the football club as well.”

One change that Luggy has hinted at is bringing in the experienced Neil Harris for fellow striker Liam Dickinson, though he did score again on Saturday after a bit of a drought.

Sturrock continued: “This is a very hard game for us and Preston won’t have people baying for their blood in the stands. That means they will be able to be more relaxed and that’s normally when teams are at their best. It was only last season that they were in the Championship as well but we’re going in to this game full of confidence after our recent good run of form.”

In-form wideboy Ryan Hall will need a break at sometime I would have thought, but not to-night!

Anthony Grant through suspension, and Ryan Leonard with a back injury will certainly not be included in Luggy's squad.
