Sturrock: Delighted with result

Sturrock: 'Second best in the second half'

It was a fifth successive league win for the Shrimpers and their sixth in a row away from Roots Hall, also in fourth tier games, a record?

It keeps a healthy eleven point gap between us and the eight placed club, seven over the fourth, and continues to keep those annoying creepies in their place.

However, we are doing it without playing at our best, in fact the faithful can count a really dominant Shrimpers performance on the fingers of one hand, if that!

Something that Blues boss Paul Sturrock is well aware off while having sympathy for his Daggers opposite number.

Sturrock told the PA: "If I was the manager of Dagenham I'd be very disappointed to get nothing out of the game. We were second best in the second half, but we battled hard and I was pleased for Kane Ferdinand. He took his goals well, he's still learning but the timing of his supporting runs was excellent."

While maybe not easy on the eye this is a results business, but when we face top seven teams over the next few months we might not be so lucky, the lads have to step up a gear against the stronger sides in the division.

Sturrock continued: "I've said too many times three or four performances have not been up to standard, but we're still churning out results. It's a difficult place to come, this is a derby and they made it difficult. They frightened us to death in the second half, their second goal was a really good finish and set the tone."
