Lincoln City v Southend United - Team News

Last updated : 15 March 2002 By Mark Wallis
Phil Whelan is expected to be declared fit for tomorrow's clash with Lincoln City having injured his arm on Tuesday night.
SOUTHEND United travel to Lincoln City tomorrow with injury doubts Phil Whelan (arm) and Mark Rawle (groin) both expected to take their places in the starting line-up.

With both Tesfaye Bramble and Tony Richards sidelined, also with groin injuries, Rawle is likely to start up front with Barrington Belgrave.

Brian Barry-Murphy has returned to Preston North End but Wimbledon midfielder Ian Selley has agreed to stay at Roots Hall until the end of the season, meanwhile Rob Newman has been trying to bring an un-named striker to the Club during the week but it appears that the 38-year old manager has been unsuccessful in his bid.

Midfielder Leon Johnson has also been named in Blues squad of eighteen for the trip to Lincolnshire and could well feature in a left midfield role, although as ever, manager Rob Newman is unlikely to name his side until just before kick-off.

Southend, who have won just once in elevan matches will be looking to find their form once again as they look to finish the season in the top half of the table.
