Dickinson: Southend can go up

Dickinson: 'To go top of the table would be an even greater feeling'

Shrimpers striker Liam Dickinson was given plenty of praise by Blues boss Paul Sturrock for his part in last weekend's 4-0 win at Rotherham United even though he didn't find the back of the net himself.

No worries, the former Derby forward knows when he's on to a good thing, and Friday evening's clash with Shrewsbury Town has all the ingrediants of being another special Roots Hall night.

Dickinson told www.echo-news.co.uk: “We’re all buzzing here at the moment but to go top of the table would be an even greater feeling. Shrewsbury will be feeling the same and they’re a top side too but we’re looking to carry on from where we left off at Rotherham last weekend. I enjoyed it last week and I thought everyone of us played well. We’ve won three on the trot and we want to keep it going.”

With various injuries the striking partnership Luggy envisaged at the start of the season had at last started to take off, ever since Bomber came on as a second half substitute two week's ago against Plymouth and helped turn the game around for the home side.

Dickinson said: “Neil’s great to play up front with. He’s always talking to you and never lets you switch off either.”

Shrimpers defender Mark Phillips is getting ready for this evening's big League Two clash by chilling out by the radio!

He tweeted: 'Massive game tonight gonna start by getting myself fired up listening to at 11.....niiiice'
