United have never faced the Swans in this competition before, although the sides did previously meet in the FA Cup in November 1975, with Southend coming out 2-0 victors at Roots Hall in the first round, beginning a great journey to the fifth round. There's no doubt that a similar run wouldn't go a miss in this season's LDV Vans.
Southend's last away win in this trophy came in October 2001 with a 4-1 thrashing of Conference side Stevenage Borough at Broadhall Way.
Other intersting ties in the Southern Section of the Second Round see Dagenham & Redbridge, 4-1 conquerors of Leyton Orient, travelling to Second Division high-flyers Queens Park Rangers whilst Colchester United travel to Yeovil Town, the venue of their 5-1 FA Cup humilation three years ago.
