Laurent: 'It was a good win and I'm pleased I came on to score.'

The 23-year-old Frenchman spoke to www.southendunited.co.uk: "I feel this is my real position and I did well there in pre-season for the team, scoring a few goal. I hope to start on Saturday now against Oldham on the right wing which is where I feel I'm at my best."

Francis also explained his surprise at being dropped for the loanee debutant from Sunderland, who also scored on the day, Roy O'Donovan.

He continued: "I thought I had done well since coming back into the team. I started against Leyton Orient and we won and I thought I did well. Then I started against Leeds and I thought I did OK again, so it was disappointing to not be in the team."

Well Francis if you come on a score a goal like that, Tilly may be doing something right!
