King: 'We've always backed Tilly and will continue to do so'

Shrimpers are still waiting for the first signing of the close season as Clarkey and Robinson will be turning out for Huddersfield come August 8, Harding has a trail with Yeovil and we seem to be haggling over 50k for one of the most promising young defenders in League One.

As with last season, which we were promised would not happen, Tilly will go into the teams first friendly in 48 hours with a small squad, this time one of just 17 players (which includes three goalkeepers!)

Another Macca type injury and it will be looking at Premier league reserve games come the middle of August with that same air of desperation.

King told the Echo: "We are after players and there wouldn't be much point in being after players if there wasn't any money to spend. We've always backed Tilly and will continue to do so. He knows what areas he wants to sign players and I would be very surprised if nobody came in. The squad have only just reported back for pre-season training so it's still early days. The friendlies haven't started yet and the type of signings we make will depend on what type Steve wants."

Geoffrey, I think the homeless guy selling the Big Issue in the high street can probably guess the type of players Tilly needs.

It's all so Groundhog Day, but in T&B we continue to trust.
