King Rules Out Law

Tilson, along with Brush, is "doing a good job"
Southend United have yet again quashed rumours over the appointment of a new manager. First Stan Collymore was mooted as a possible candidate, and now the next man to put himself forward, Nicky Law, has been told that he will not be interviewed for the vacant post. In fact, the only man that Blues have actually claimed to have wanted to speak to – Oxford United’s Ian Atkins – has committed himself to the U’s for the foreseeable future.

The Evening Echo, BBC Sport and Sky Sports all ran statements from Law, who appeared interested in the post and put himself forward. However, he was not at liberty to discuss any aspect of any meeting he may have had with the club, and King has today said that nothing took place between the two parties. He said, “the fact remains that he has not been along for an interview and at this moment in time we have no plans to invite him for one”.

Once again, following what Ron Martin has stressed to reporters ever since the sacking of Steve Wignall, Blues’ deputy chairman King continued in his statement to the club’s official website, www.southendunited.co.uk, “This appointment must be the right one and because of that we will take as much time as we feel necessary. Both Steve Tilson and Paul Brush are doing a good job with the team and this allows us the time to thoroughly examine all options available to us”.
