Kidderminster Harriers v Southend United Preview

Last updated : 29 March 2002 By
Kidderminster currently sit in 10th place in the Nationwide League Division Three table, two places and six points above The Blues. Currently four points off a play-off place Jan Molby's Harriers will be desperate for maximum points on Saturday after their play-off aspirations took a knock on Tuesday night going down 2-1 at Cheltenham Town. Talking after the Cheltenham match Molby said: "We were certainly the better team in the first half. Their keeper has made a wonderful double save from Larkin and Henriksen. I don't know, but I think we should have probably scored from one of those chances. It could have been game over. "For both goals we gave away possession under no pressure and that's disappointing. It was always going to be difficult. I'm disappointed because a draw would have been fair, but it wasn't to be. There are another five games to go, 15 points to play for and I think that would get you into the play-offs".

Molby - speculation of a move to Hull City
There has also been speculation this week that Jan Molby is about to jump ship at Aggborough to join Division Three rivals Hull City. Although Kidderminster chairman Colin Youngjohns was quick to dispel rumours on Harriers official website: “All I can say is that we have behaved entirely properly throughout this affair and still await the promised approach from Hull City. I really do understand our fans genuine concerns and I appreciate that there is a need to speak out and tell it as it is. “It is quite remarkable that there has been no approach from any club considering the amount of cross fertilisation of rumours amongst the press over the last three days. “Much of what we have heard and read recently I think has been dreamt up in the offices of a couple of newspapers. If we believe everything we read in the press we’d all think that Kidderminster Harriers are keen to see the back of their manager. This is certainly not the case. “We will not, however, stand in his (Jan’s) way. I believe that Jan Molby should be performing in the Premier League. I know that he is capable of managing at a much higher level if he’s given the time. “What disappoints me most is that many people seem to think our business should be conducted on the back pages of the newspapers. We will not operate that way. “Please be assured that our dedicated and loyal fans are greatly valued by this club. I promise that through our official channels you will always be the first to hear the facts.” Blues visit to Aggborough last season occurred on a Tuesday night in March which saw Blues go down by the odd goal in three. Michael Black gave Blues a half-time lead before second-half substitute's Ian Bogie (58) and Stewart Hadley (89) sealed the points for Kidderminster.
