It's Tilly and Brush for Lincoln

Tilson: Slim pickings

Steve Tilson: The new manager of Lincoln City is to be joined by Paul Brush

So it's happened, Steve Tilson and Paul Brush are the new management team at fellow League Two club Lincoln City having signed a two-and-a-half-year contract.

A full press conference will take place Monday when the new manager will officially take charge to give him time to talk to the players over the weekend and leave the running of the team for the game at Shrewsbury to the caretaker Scott Lindsey.

Could he have done better, possibily, but managerial positions do not come up every day, well almost, and whatever the reasons he has two relegations on his CV in four seasons, and that will make ambitious League One clubs or Championship clubs in trouble very nervous.

Nigel Adkins kept Scunthorpe in the second tier and is now manager of Southampton, a job Tilly would have been well qualified for in other circumstances.

As we've already written, Tilly of course has to get back in the saddlw sometime and here at S24 we were actually hoping it would be a club near the bottom of League Two so he could show chairman Ron Martin what he could do with small resources whatever the rights and wrongs of Uncle Ron's decision, though we hope he pays T&B any thing they are legally entitled to.

And knowing Steve he will do just that come the end of the season, which will make the fixture at Sincil Bank next March very interesting indeed.

Even so, one can be forgiven for feeling slightly sad that events turned out as they have.

Then again, at least he can't take any of our present players, as outside a select group, he doesn't know any of them!

More likely look out for loan moves made for Franck Moussa at Leicester and Stuart O'Keefe at Crystal Palace, but if he wants some goals our own Scott Spencer might be a worth a try, Luggy obviously doesn't fancy him.

Still, time to move on as any good psychologist will tell us, Tilly went a while a go now, Brushy even longer, Luggy's the future at Roots Hall like it or lump it, but those who were part of that amazing seven-year adventure under Tilly and Brush will never forget it.

It touched our lives in a way only sport and football can.

Good luck lads outside the M25.

In T&B we trusted.
