Of course, the two sides have met in this competition before, with United beating the Islanders 2-1 in December 2000 in a match which was switched from Park Lane to Roots Hall.
There will be no switch this time with Southend having been drawn at home, but rumours on another United website suggest that the match may be screened live on Sky Sports or the BBC, if this is the case the match could well be played on Sunday, 9th November.
An announcement should be made early this week and we will of course keep you informed as soon as we have any news.
