Kovács; Has become a Hatter

You know something's wrong when a team that was nearly bankrupt a
couple of seasons ago and docked so many points by the Football League they now find themselves in the Blue Square Conference Premier, can possibily outbid Southend for the centre half they've been looking at, or at least pay him more dosh.

Of course they has been no official word that Kovács was the target, some would comment it's a lucky escape if he wasn't!

The Lincoln City official site, www.redimps.co.uk, says: "Kovács, placed on the transfer list last week, has attracted interest from a number of clubs since his name was circulated and we can confirm that the former Hungarian U21 international was today meeting officials at the Blue Square Premier promotion chasers."

Imps Vice-Chairman Bob Dorrian comments on the same site: "It's always a shame to see players moving on, especially when they have worked hard for the Club over a period of time. The January transfer window does, however, give players who are not getting regular first team football an opportunity to find another club and further their careers."

However, it does show that sometimes administartion in the long term is not a bad thing.

It's allowed Luton to clear their debts, they are now totally re-financed, are in the race for a play-off place to return to the League at the first attempt, and they may be able to offer a League Two defender a financial package that Southend would struggle to match.
