The American born goalkeeper made three first team appearances last year including a clean sheet at Hereford, a solid second half at Brighton and, for anybody there, an incredible debut at Crewe which could have ruined his
career at Southend before it ever got going!

Letting in three goals, none which he could be blamed for, Blues still ended up winning 4-3, an incredible afternoon.

Blues boss Steve Tilson told the official site: "We've offered Ian another year's contract. He did well when called upon in the first team last season but he knows he still has things to work on. The ball is now in his court whether or not he decides to accept it."

Joyce, 23, arrived at Roots Hall on a free transfer having previously played with Watford and Grays Athletic.
