Herd: 'The aim is to be fit for the game on Friday'

With only two fit defenders in Simon Francis and skipper Adam Barrett able to play against MK Dons on Friday in their correct position, Blues boss Steve Tilson will be cheered by the news left back Johnny Herd may be able to turn out.

Johnny went off on the half hour of the FA Cup tie away to Gillingham and missed last Saturday's defeat at Yeovil after expecting to be out for up to a month.

Herd told the official site: "The aim is to be fit for the game on Friday and that's what we're working towards. At the moment I would say I'm about 80 per cent certain of being involved but I will have a proper fitness test today and we will know more after that. I can still feel some pain but I've done a few sprints and come through that fine so hopefully I will be able to join in with training tomorrow and then be fit for Friday."
