Herd: Scan revealed there was no hamstring tear

After limping off in the 31st minute of Saturday's cup tie at Gillingham travelling Shrimpers feared the worst, and sure enough the official site announced Monday that left back Johnny Herd could be looking at 'three to four weeks' out.

Not the best news for Tilly who would have had only two defenders, Adam Barrett and Simon Francis, available to play in their correct position for the long trip to Somerset Saturday.

However, Blues physio John Stannard has revealed the results of Tuesday's scan, and it confirmed there was no hamstring tear.

Stnnard told the official site: "It looks like it was just a muscle spasm against Gillingham which is good news as he would have been looking at a month out with a tear. There is a possibilty he will be available for the weekend but it really depends on how he reacts to training this week."

The club also informed us that Sunderland loanee Jean-Yves M'Voto will see a top specialist in Coventry re his operation to solve his hip injury before returning to Southend 'to start his rehabiliation.'

As for Osei Sankofa, who is recovering from a knee injury, he last played in the win at Stockport on October, he's started running but is still two weeks away from starting full training.
