Harry happy at the Hall hoping for first team footy but 'wouldn't be adverse to going on loan again'

Well known Watford born Irishman Harry Crawford

Young Harry Crawford is certainly one to watch for the Shrimpers as he continues to try and force his way into Blues boss Paul Sturrock's first team planes.

And he certainly didn't do his cause any harm by grabbing a double in the exciting 3-3 draw with Roy Keane's Ipswich Town Tuesday at Roots Hall.

Harry told Blues Insider: "It is always good to score, whatever the level. I felt I could have had a couple more as I had another decent effort in the first half and then hit the post in the second. But I still managed to get two goals and hopefully that has helped me catch the managers' eye."

Crawford did get a game at Barnet in the JPT a couple of weeks ago and the former Blues youth team player got the cross in for Matt Paterson's first goal in the 3-1 win.

Sadly he was taken off when Bilel Moshni was sent off as the team needed a replacement defender to go on, a move he obviously understood, hoping next time he gets a full 90 minutes to prove his worth.

This follows on from earlier this season when he was loaned out to Blue Square South side Dover Athletic, scored on his debut, made one more appearance, two in total, before picking up an injury and returning to Roots Hall!

However, he enjoyed the experience and sees it as a stepping stone to getting another go in the League side, though he wouldn't be adverse to another loan move if the opportunity arises.

Harry explained: "It was good to get out and play some games but unfortunately I got injured early on. I scored on my debut and things started really well. Dover didn't train everyday so I was still with Southend during the week. Playing games at my age is really important so it was a good experience and I wouldn't be adverse to going on loan again. Hopefully I can force my way into the managers plans here though as I'm really enjoying it at Southend now."
