Harry Crawford: Quite a few weeks for the young 'Irishman'

It's not turning out to be a bad day, though we write those words with extreme caution regarding the how the week will end up!

Anyway, the summer started in the Ukraine for 18-year old centre forward Harry Crawford playing for the Irish under-19's, this after he made his first team debut and actually scoring his first goal in a Shrimpers shirt against the team he may face again in only a month's time, Stockport County.

And now he's signed his first professional contract for Southend in a two-year deal.

Harry told www.southendunited.co.uk: "I'm really proud to commit my future to the football club. The end of last season was brilliant for me. Getting some playing time for the first team and getting my first goal was nice. Hopefully I can now carry on under the new manager."

Great stuff Harry, and good luck.
