As reported in S24 last week Anthony has been in negotiations with the Blues to extend his contract as he only had six months to go on his present deal.
Speaking to www.southendunited.co.uk Grant said: "It is good to get it alll out of the way early as we have been talking for a little while now and I can just concentrate on my football. When I was at Chelsea I went out on loan a lot but I am happy to be at Southend and playing games because I feel a lot more settled here. There is a good spirit in the camp and we are all together which we have to be at the moment. I feel I have improved during my time here and hopefully we can push on now and see where the season takes us."
He certainly has improved this season, and this can only be looked upon as something positive in what could still turn out to be a very tough week for the Shrimpers.
