Anthony Grant: 'Had some little lapses in concentration which we need to cut out'

Sadly for Southend's in-form midfielder Anthony Grant, yet another goal on Saturday that gave his side the lead against Northampton Town couldn't starve off an eventual defeat.

And they could be on the receiving end of a tounge lashing from Blues boss Paul Sturrock.

Grant told www.southendunited.co.uk: "We should've seen out the game and it's disappointing we haven't. Being 1-0 up we should have won but we had some little lapses in concentration which we need to cut out. The manager has told us he will talk to us about the game at training today and tomorrow so we will see what he says and then try to kick on to make sure we bounce back against Morecambe at the weekend."

They probably can't understand Luggy anyway!

Still, back to Snoop Dog, whose decision to stay with the Shrimpers over the summer has been a great boost to Sturrock in his rebuilding of the team, he's certainly of League One standard, while Macca leaving for Charlton seems to have released his attacking instincts, having now scored in the last three league games having previously not scored in 79 appearances!

Grant continued: "I can't believe I got another goal and if they keep on coming I'll be happy. It was a great cross, so I watched it, readjusted and just kneed it in.

Meanwhile, Anthony joked after his great strike against Torquay last weekend that he may decide to retire if he scored again, a decision taken aeay from him by Shrimpers supremo Ron Martin!

He revealed: "The chairman has said I have to continue. He won't let me retire!"
