All that is left to be sorted now are the terms and conditions of the contract offered by Southend United, and whether Gower will find them to his liking. On the official Bees website, www.barnetfc.co.uk, the Nationwide Conference club's manager, former West Ham United tough man Martin Allen, disclosed, "He has promised to come back to me in the next 48 hours. He has done particularly well for Barnet and, if he does not agree personal terms with Southend, I will be delighted for him to stay".
The five-foot eleven-inch midfielder started his career at White Hart Lane, and was good enough to break into the first team with Spurs, making two substitute appearances in the League Cup in 1998/9 against Brentford. In March of 1999, he went on loan to Motherwell, where the Edmonton born player scored on his Scottish Premier League debut in a 2-1 defeat to Rangers at Ibrox. He played another eight games for the Fir Park outfit before signing for Barnet in a £32,500 switch on 17th January 2001. In 93 games for the Bees he has scored 16 times, including nine last season.
