Mark's attempt to model his hair on the X-Factor Twins failed miserably

Mark Gower played over 200 games for the Shrimpers before heading down the M4 to Wales but hasn't an overnight success.

He may believe now he's found his true position with the Swans and can setttle down to a decent run in the first team.

Blues fans were used to seeing Gower out on the left and cutting inside to cause many defences trouble with his dangerous shooting ability, a position he started with Swansea.

However, he's now been moved into central midfield and in the last two games, winning 1-0 at West Brom while going goalless with Blackpool at home, Mark has started to stand out again, helping make the Tangerine's keeper man of the match.

Gower spoke to www.walesonline.co.uk: "If you're playing you've got to be happy and I don't care if I play right-back. I'm delighted to be in the team, but I get a lot more of the ball in that position. You've got to have greater discipline because you've got to track runners and there's a lot more positional play. You can never switch off and it's a bit more difficult in that sense. But I love it because I feel a lot more involved in the game and can get on the ball more."

It's been largely a tough time for 31-year-old Gower since leaving from Roots Hall in the summer of 2008 as his contract came to an end.

It took Mark an incredible 53 games to grab his first goal in a White shirt, when on October 3 QPR were defeated 2-0 at the Liberty Stadium, a place that holds happy memories for Shrimpers, yet now Mark is ready to move on.

Gower continued: "I feel a lot more confident. The goal was a long time coming but I can move on now. It would be nice to get a few more, but I feel my form has come together in the last few weeks and I'm playing the way I should. The goal has helped my confidence and I feel I can push on from there."
