Going Green with the Blues is a join project between the Southend United Community Trust and Basildon based printing firm, Konica Minolta.

They hope to raise enviromental issues in Essex by encouraging Primary school children reduce, re-use and recycle in the home and classroom.

Community Chief Executive Steve Goodsell told the Football League website: "We wanted to show children that they make a positive difference to the enviroment during their day-to-day lives. As part of the course, children have been coming along to Roots Hall and seeing how we operate. They've even been suggesting some energy saving tips for us to try too!"

Football League Trust Regional Manager Greg Baker continued the upbeat message: "Enviromental issues are extremely high on the agenda both locally and globally. Steve and his team at Southend have delivered a fantastic pilot project. and we look forward to seeing how it develops over the coming months."
