Gilbert: 'Would be brilliant to make it back-to-back wins'

Gilbert: Annoyed by his situation

Gilbert: 'I was chomping at the bit to get back out there'

Shrimpers left-back Peter Gilbert was recalled to the starting line before the Tuesday evening victory over the Gills when Blues boss Paul Sturrock surprisingly decided to give his replacement Luke Prosser 'a rest'.

However, he's back, we kept a clean sheet for the first time since beating Hereford United 1-0 on the opening day of the season, and Peter's another Shrimper who could be facing a former club at bthe weekend, joining Plymouth Argyle's ex-boss Paul Sturrock, our present skipper Chris Barker, player/coach Graham Coughlan, summer signings Ryan Leonard & Liam Dickinson, and, yes, the son of Luggy himself, Blair! Phew!

Gilbert told www.echo-news.co.uk: “It would be brilliant to make it back-to-back wins because it’s huge if you can do that in this league. It can really help push you higher up the table and that’s obviously what we’re aiming for. We want to carry on the momentum we gained from beating Gillingham and get back in to the play-off places.”

And so say all of us, and the struggling Pilgrims certainly gives the home side a great chance to keep that old girl mo mentum onside.

But for Gilbert, it's all about seeing himself on that teamsheet when he goes in to Roots Hall sometime Saturday.

Gilbert said: “It had been frustrating not playing and I was chomping at the bit to get back out there. I kept my head down and worked hard to make sure I was ready when a chance did come my way. Hopefully I’ve done that and can stay in the side for the Plymouth game.”
