Gilbert: 'Bilel's injury didn't look good'
Everyone connected with the Shrimpers are waiting to see if the ankle injury picked up by defender Bilel Mohsni midway through the second half of Saturday's 2-0 defeat to Shrewsbury Town.
The side has only won one of eleven games that the talented French Tunisian has not been involved in so left-back Peter Gilbert, who rushed over to help his team mate at the weekend after seeing him collapse in agony in front of the west stand, is echoing the rest of the squad on hoping the problem is not too serious.
Gilebert told www.echo-news.co.uk: "Bilel makes a big difference to our team so we don't want the injury to be too serious. It didn't look good but hopefully he will be back out there again soon."
An x-ray after the game revealed there wasn't a fracture but now we all await news of a scan Bilel undertook on Monday.
And that includes his boss Paul Sturrock who is well aware of his importance.
Sturrock said: "We don't know how serious the injury is just yet but it's the same ankle Bilel injured before and it's really swollen up like a balloon. He's an important player for us so we hope he's not out for too long, but we will just have to wait and see what the scan shows."
