Gay Placed On International Standby

Danny Gay
Danny Gay has been placed on standby for Wales Under-21's.
Twenty-year old Gay, who has appeared five times for United this season, is eligable for Wales having a Welsh father and the King's Lynn born shot-stopper has always expressed an ambition to reprensent the Welsh.

Even Gay himself might be surprised at the call up though, with very few Third Division players ever getting a look in at that level, and Gay is only second choice at Roots Hall behind Darryl Flahavan.

Danny however becomes the second Southend player to be placed on International standby this season after Neil Jenkins' was also selected by England Under-20's, a side he has previously captained.

We at The Little Gazette would like to congratulate Danny on this fine honour.
