Eastwood celebrates after winning promotion
Eastwood has been linked with a number of moves away from Roots Hall this summer however he has again said he does not want to be playing football elsewhere next season.   Nottingham Forest have today been linked with a £500,000 bid for Eastwood as they look to bolster their front line in an attempt to regain promotion to the Championship at the first time of asking.

However the Blues have not received any kind of official bid for Eastwood and due to the fact that Shrimpers supremo Ron Martin has, in the past, firmly denied that Eastwood would be leaving, it throws into some doubt if the bid would be accepted.

In fact not even the history and past glory’s of Forest could persuade Eastwood to leave Southend. “They are a big club with great history and support and I will be playing there next year. But it won’t be for Forest, I will be wearing blue not red and I will be with Southend United,” Freddy told the Southend Evening Echo.

However it is the current plight of Forest that appeared to have affected Eastwood’s decision the most. “Forest are in the same league as Southend though so it wouldn’t be a step up at all,” Eastwood commented on the closeness of the two clubs.

In fact it appears that the promotion of Southend has secured

Eastwood for at least another season as Freddy confirmed his want to play at Roots Hall next year. “I keep saying I want to stay and I really mean it. Come the start of pre-season training I am certain I will still be with Southend to,” he said.

Other news from Roots Hall suggests that another player may be stalling to sign a contract. Striker, Lawrie Dudfield has been offered a one-year extension but is still to sign as Macclesfield, Bristol Rovers and Huddersfield Town have shown interest.
