Flavs Signs Up To League One Football At Southend

Darryl Flahavan
Flahavan, who started the season at number two at Southend forced his way into the number one sport after a string of good performances. After Bart Griemink was injured at Rushden in September, Flahavan held the first team spot until he was sent off against Boston United in October. Despite a suspension Darryl showed good bouncebackability to return to the first team until he was injured just before the Christmas period. The Southampton born shotstopper then had to wait until January, when Griemink was again injured.

Flahavan maintained his position until the end of the season and produced some fantastic saves whilst improving on other areas of his game. Few will forget the sensational stop from Scot McGleish in the dying minutes of the 2005 playoff semi against Northampton. Whilst Darryl has had his critics over the years, he has come through strong to be a crucial part of the 2004/2005 promotion campaign.

Darryl announced last week that he would be signing his two year contract and the club’s official website confirmed this earlier on today. TLG look forward to seeing Darryl in a Southend shirt for the next two seasons with a chance to prove himself League One.
