Flahavan Finally Pledges His Future To The Seaside

Darryl Flahavan.
Flahavan, who was named as the Club's Player of the Year at the end of last season following countless matchwinning performances between the sticks.

Flahavan, 25 in September, first turned down boss Rob Newman's offer of an extension in March, and 19-year old shot stopper Daniel Gay was duly given a run in the side.

With Club's such as Brighton & Hove Albion, now of course a first division side, reputed to be sniffing around Flahavan, it seemed unlikely that Darryl's future remained at Roots Hall. Rob Newman however is a stubborn man, not once offering Flahavan more money, but with time ticking out in the count down to the pre-season build up, Flahavan had recieved no offers from elsewhere and has agreed to pledge his future to Southend United for at least one more year.

Flahavan should join up eith the squad, as normal, when United return to full training tomorrow.
